Sometimes my car takes a while to start, what could that be?

99 chevy caviler

161,146 exact mileage

everything works great except that it sometimes has a hard time starting. i was thinking starter or maybe even fuel injectors? spark plugs might need to be changed soon. ill have to check. how do i check my spark plugs myself? what do i look for after i pull them out? does the car need to be on? i need every detail please. 10 pts for BASometimes my car takes a while to start, what could that be?
the engine must be cool you do not want to try it with the engine hot or you will strip the threads out of the head. on all aluminum heads you must do it with the motor cool. check pull one of the plugs out first twist the boot on the plug wire to free it then pull on the boot not the wire you will pull it apart. and after you get the plug out you need to look at it to see if it is very black or chalky grey but any way get new plugs before starting on this project they do not cost much and you might as well change them if you have them out you will need a plug gapping tool and a 3/8 ratchet and 8 inch extension and a 5/8 plug socket.do not tighten them very tight. also when you have about a 1/4 of a tank of fuel put in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner then run it for about ten miles then change your plugs after it has cooled off. hope this helps.Sometimes my car takes a while to start, what could that be?
If the engine cranks over normally it is not your starter. The plugs can be easily checked by removing them one at a time to keep wires in correct place. Once a plug is removed look at the tip of each plug. It should not be pointed, dirty, oily, or worn on one side. If they have not been changed in a long while they probably need to be replaced. Set the gap on the plug at the recommeded settings. I believe it is on the sticker under the hood. A gap gage can be picked up at your local parts store for about a dollar. Have the parts store check the gap setting on the plugs. Keep plugs clean when installing them. I would also replace the wires again one at a time to keep from crossing the wires.Sometimes my car takes a while to start, what could that be?
