How do i know if my fuel injectors need cleaning?

went in for an oil change and the guy tried to crank my car. wouldnt start right off; which is something that normally happens. he said i need fuel injectors cleaned, i told him it should crank right up if you try it again. he tried it and it cranked right up.

he was talking fast, and it seemed like he was trying to make an extra 60 dollars for precision auto. i DO notice that when i have my AC on, the car experiences a lack of power, general rough idle, and even hesitation when i step on the throttle. that is until the car's motor reaches proper operating temp....

so do i need a fuel injector cleaning/replacement, or is my symptoms attributed to something like a bad fast idle thermo valve sensor

car is 93 accord with 140k miles. How do i know if my fuel injectors need cleaning?
When the A/C is on it takes power to turn the compressor.

The lack of power is because and hesitation is because the car has very little power to begin with and when you have something else to power you just don't have enough to do it.How do i know if my fuel injectors need cleaning?
All the quick lube places try this tactic to make more money. If you do proper maintenance by changing your fuel filter when recommended, you don't need to worry. I know some here will recommend some brand of injector cleaner, but I have never needed it. Most all brands cause more problems than they cure.

Can oil in the fuel injectors be harmful? Please help. Thank you.?

I was changing the oil on my 04 scion xa. And when I was putting the new oil in it without a funnel (never again) my aim was apparently off and some of the oil dripped onto the injectors. I tried to absorb as much as i could with a cloth but it was such a tight squeeze that i didnt absorb much. Afterwards i unscrewed the fuel rail to get better access to the oil that had spilled and it disconnected from the third injector and gas also started leaking all over the place so i then decided not to remove the rail. When i tried removing the rail the injectors also lifted up and oil probably went into the ports. I dont know if the fuel rail connected back with the injector. I did tighten both bolts on the fuel rail but now my car at idle makes a hissing sound on and off, that i suspect is coming from that injector. Should i stop driving it? Is oil in there harmful? I think the sounds coming from that injector? The car starts and drives fine. But at idle it has that whishing/hissing sound every couple of second or so. Any help is greatly appreciated. I dont know how something as simple as an oil change went so wrong. Many thanks in advance. Can oil in the fuel injectors be harmful? Please help. Thank you.?
put a fuel system cleaner in with your next tank of fuel

once it has cleaned through, it should be fine, but you may notice a slight stuttering...it shouldn't be too harmfulCan oil in the fuel injectors be harmful? Please help. Thank you.?
i don't see any problem with oil on or a little of it in the injector, where it went bad was when you took of the fuel rail i would take it to the dealer and have them take a look just tell them it started hissing and you don't know why if tit is still under warranty.

  • How to Change The transmission fluid in a 1999 Pontiac Grand am gt 3.4 liter v6?

    hi,

i have a 1999 pontiac grand am gt with 72,000 miles on it, i purchased the vehicle a couple monthes ago with about 64,000 miles on it, since then i have done spark plugs, whires, flushed the coolant system out twice to get rid of all the dex-cool, (eats engine parts) flushed the power steering fluid, brake fluid, also have done the brake pads, fuel injector cleaing, and change the oil every 1,500 miles, as you can see i take very good care of my car, the engine has alot of power, and i am very happy with my vehicle BUT.! one thing has always bothered me, THE TRANSMiSSiON FLUiD. i'VE always wanted to change it but there is no dip stick, and it is extremely hard to check the fluid, i've heard that there is a screw on the right side of the tranny at the top %26amp; you are supposed to be able to check the fluid that way, but it is still very hard. QUESTiON iS..should i change the fluid %26amp; filter myself.?? and how do i kno how much will fill it up.? or should i just leave ot alone.?How to Change The transmission fluid in a 1999 Pontiac Grand am gt 3.4 liter v6?
To change the fluid you need to go to a garage to have it done. They must hook the transmissions line that run to and from the cooler to a machine that swaps the fluid out. I don't know if GM does this but Ford does, You need to check but when you don't see a dipstick it usually mean they have lifetime fluid in them, which mean it never gets changed. If your anything like I am ,and it sounds like you are by the description of your car maintenance, I wouldn't trust that it's really lifetime and just have them change it.How to Change The transmission fluid in a 1999 Pontiac Grand am gt 3.4 liter v6?
no, no, no. there is no such thing as a lifetime fluid in transmissions, unless you want that lifetime to be a short one! change every 30-60k miles max! there's no dipstick, but search the internet there's a complicated way to check the level, and be sure to thank GM when you try to check it

take to pro when in doubtHow to Change The transmission fluid in a 1999 Pontiac Grand am gt 3.4 liter v6?
I would try to check the fluid myself, and if you are sucessful (and feel positive you know the level it needs to be at) Then go ahead and take the pan bolts out %26amp; drop the pan, change the filter, and put fresh in.... I would rather do this than taking to a shop for flush %26amp; refill as sometimes doing that dislodges crud in the tranny which can block the fluid flowing and burn it up...so I usually do several changes the manual way to replace the majority of the fliud... If you can't figure out the fliud level you will need to take it in... (usually it takes quite a bit 7 qts or so?) and that doesn't include torque converterHow to Change The transmission fluid in a 1999 Pontiac Grand am gt 3.4 liter v6?
hey, in grand am's a trans axel comes stock so in turn it is not possible to check the fluid because it is not a true transmission so to say. Only way to tell if something is wrong with your trans axel is if it is leaking fluid other than that it should be no big concernHow to Change The transmission fluid in a 1999 Pontiac Grand am gt 3.4 liter v6?
Have the filter and fluid flushed at a professional garage. To check the fluid, the vehicle must be level and running. Remove the screw on the R/S of the case near the R/S inner tripod joint. The fluid should drip out while running. Since it is impossible to get beneath the vehicle while it is in the ground, the best bet is letting a professional handle it.How to Change The transmission fluid in a 1999 Pontiac Grand am gt 3.4 liter v6?

I am having a problem with my 96 240sx.. SR20DET Rebuilt.. FUEL PRESSURE PROBLEM?

I have Nismo 740cc Injectors.. Well everything to have the car be fully rebuilt. I changed to fuel pump to the Walbro 255 pump. I am not sure if I need a FPR now. I am getting way too much fuel. The injectors are drenched with gas whenever I take them out. The car will not idle at all with the 740cc injectors.. The spark plugs are black whenever I take them out. That is how much gas I am getting.. Please help me fix this fuel problem. I am getting a horrrrible amount of fuel. Wayy to much. Thanks so muchhh!I am having a problem with my 96 240sx.. SR20DET Rebuilt.. FUEL PRESSURE PROBLEM?
You must match the injectors and the ECU, so the ECU will be able to deliver the correct amount of fuel, an AFPR will help, by lowering the pressure (and volume). this may be all you need to do. Make sure the MAF is working and no un metered air leaks exist between the MAF and the engine, anywhere there is a vacuum line or seal. Also ensure good ignition components (spark plugs, wires, coil, etc.) weak spark will manifest itself as poor combustion, but I think you are just dealing with too much fuel for the stock computer to deal with. Typically the ECU has about a +/- 25% range off base line to adapt and change, any more that and you run into issues.I am having a problem with my 96 240sx.. SR20DET Rebuilt.. FUEL PRESSURE PROBLEM?
get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and turn the pressure down untill it runs correctly the problem is is that everyone thinks oh I can get bigger injectors and a higher pressure fuel pump and get 500 horse power, well you have to do ALOT more than that because you can only burn so much fuel without doing alot more modifications before you are just flooding the engine out

How do you make a Honda Civic accelerate faster and/or smoother?

I own a 1998 Honda Civic EX with Automatic transmission, low miles, but NO VTECH. I want to modify the setup with something else that will be simple to install, or cheap to install that will give out a better acceleration. Right now, I am happy with its performance so far, but just gotta have more power, baby.. Maybe a cold air intake? (I have no clue how THAT works, fill me in) Maybe physically taking the engine apart and cleaning the crap out of its insides? Maybe changing its fuel injectors? I am currently replacing the Spark Plugs with ones called %26quot;Autolite Double Platinum, APP5244%26quot; with 0.44 Gap.How do you make a Honda Civic accelerate faster and/or smoother?
Since your starting with that platform i'm going to guess your not ready to throw down the cash needed for %26quot;turbo kit, bigger injectors, exhaust hood(wtf?) blow off valve(another wtf?)%26quot;. You just want to drop small cash and due to your line of questioning i'm also going to guess your not a mechanic yourself which means paying someone to do all your work. That gets real expensive. But if you want to do a few reasonably cheap mods to get a little more out of your car, I would first get a better flowing exhaust. It sounds more aggressive and allows the engine to breath a little better. Don't drop the cash on a kit though, it will cost you more. Instead go to a muffler shop and tell them what you want. It will be cheaper and most any reputable shop will give you a much better finished product. The next item would be a better intake. A cold air intake is better than a factory design and it looks cooler when you open the hood. The filters flow more air and the intake itself will be smoother so you get more air in. I don't remember the factory plug gap setting but don't change it from stock. You will only hurt performance.

the last thing is for Man, torque does not create horsepower. They are 2 different things. How do you make a Honda Civic accelerate faster and/or smoother?
A bigger engine makes more torque more average torque makes more horsepower, you can also turbo it, a cold air intake, exhaust hood is waste of money cause all that equals price of turbo kit and attracts cops. Turbo kit should include turbo better more power and effect it is and higher flow injectors and a blow off valve along with inter cooler and piping. Some of these might not be included buy you can buy them for reasonible price you will also need a boost controller certin ones are cheap but work good.

  • Do I need to replace my catalytic converter?

I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy 4D 2WD V6. My %26quot;service engine soon%26quot; light is on. I goes off every blue moon and stays on for a while. I have had an oil and filter change, spark plug and wire change, and fuel injector cleaner added. I have a troubleshooting code of P0420, P0452, and P0453. Car runs normal, no skipping or jerking, sound great. What do I need to check? and If it is the catalytic converter how long can I drive before it is potentially too dangerous?Do I need to replace my catalytic converter?
P0420 is bank 1 cat is below effecency.

P0452 Is a problem with the pressure in the fuel emissions recovory system (sensor low). (check the gas cap)

P0453 Is the opossite of 452, so it may be a problem with the way the gas cap is working.

    P0420 :

A code P0420 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Leaded fuel was used where unleaded was called for

An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly

The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly

Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / exhaust pipe

    Retarded spark timing

The oxygen sensors in front and behind the converter are reporting too similar of readings

Some suggested steps for troubleshooting a P0420 code include:

Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes, catalytic converter. Repair as required.

Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation (Tip: The oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter normally has a fluctuating waveform. The waveform of the sensor behind the converter should be more steady).

Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor (HO2), replace if necessary

    Replace the catalytic converter

In short you may not need a new catalytic converoter. There are cheaper things to replace that may or may not fix the problem.Do I need to replace my catalytic converter?
Okay, I know virtually nothing about cars, but when my service engine light comes on it is usually when I'm low on gas or when I just bought gas. Check your manual. Mine says to twist the gas cap three times after buying gas. Believe it or not, when I forget to do this the light comes on. When I go back and twist it, it takes about maybe the next 3 times of starting the car and the light goes off. I'll leave the catalytic converter part for the experts here at YA!Do I need to replace my catalytic converter?
it don,t sound like the converter. usually a bad converter you will lose power or it will rattle.PO420 is catalyst system below threshold( bank 1 )PO452 is the evap fuel tank pressure sensor too low and PO453 is that it is too high. first thing it could be the -2 sensors and check the fuel tank pressure. it could be the gas cap.Do I need to replace my catalytic converter?
your catalytic converter going out is not dangerous, my trucks catalytic converter went out and it sounded amazing that was about it, look in the book of your code reader, it should tell you what sensor those codes are talking aboutDo I need to replace my catalytic converter?

How do I reinstall rockers on 98 Dodge 5.9 360?

I followed instructions straight out of my Haynes manual. Not really much help I am affraid. My V8 mark is gone do to excessive rust.

Here is what was done so far.

    1. Pulled off heads. Stripped off rockers, springs and Valves. Cleaned and replaced with new head gaskets, ARP bolts and proper torque seq. No leaks. Put plenum back down with new plen pan gasket and intake and proper torque. Changed all fuel injector orings and lubed to insure no tearing first. Changed Valve stem seals, put original valves back in( cleaned varnish with plastic ez strip wheel to insure no damage scratches) , springs, push rods and rockers all back in their original location with plenty of engine assembly lube.

    2. I set the dist back down with the 1 cylinder and TDC and the rotor lined up with 1 on the cam sensor plate. I had lost my original mark for the dist body but, because timing is not adjustable this should not matter.

This a completely stock engine with 140,000 on it. I have been using Mobile 1 all it's life and inside pretty clean zero sludge.

    So question 1

Do I need to resynch the dist with the injectors now. If so how do I go about this ?

    2

When I put the rockers back down I started at 1 cyclinder and about 1 1/2 inches past TDC mark on dampner as my factory stamping is no longer. All rockers torqued to 16 ftlb per Haynes manual.

So my question is after doing 1 cylinder rockers what is next. Do I follow firing order 1.8 and so on. If so where should I be on the dampner ( number/ degree to turn ) . Also I am aware that these are supposed to be non adjustable so to say ( Haynes ) that you just bolt them down with proper torque spec and wait five minutes I think I was misled there ?

Issues : My top end is making all kinds of noise. Not your normal ticking either. My fear and thought is that I do not have proper piston to valve clearance on the rest of the cylinders.

I am not a mechanic, I just play one in my back yard like most of us. I am affraid I got a little over confident with this repair and if I don't get this thing back to my 17 year old daughter my wife is gonna scalp me for sure.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. How do I reinstall rockers on 98 Dodge 5.9 360?
First The timing is adjustable at the distributor, as you mentioned resynch, This is done by turning the distributor, catch is you must have a chrysler drb3 to do it correctly,

You dont have to remove the dist to do a head job,

If the timing is off you will get some top end noise sounds like something loose and rattling but it could be the rockers if they are not tight enough, but all you have to do is tighten them as there is no adjustment on them You need to have the engine timing synched correctly None of the valves hit the pistons if the engine is in time at the timing chain you have nothing to worry about there for sure

What would cause my car to lose power?

Ok I already know that my 91 VW Jetta GL needs an exhaust manifold replaced, and I am wondering if that would cause it to lose power at 2500 rpms? It will be going just fine then if I let it get above or at 2500 rpms it just bogs down, and will not gain speed no matter how much gas I give it, the CEL comes on most times when this happens, but if I push the clutch in and rev it past 2500 to like 3000 rpms the light goes off, but still lacks power. I changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, cleaned intake, ran injector cleaner, changed fuel filter. I even replaced the catalytic converter, to no avail. I just bought car the car, and drove it 75 miles to get home, and this problem never arose, it did surge a little but never lost power like this. If any one can give me a few things to look into I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Another thing, the car did set for a year with a full tank of gas in it, but I used most of that up and put fresh gas in it.What would cause my car to lose power?

Good Jokes, Cars, and Great Sex all depend on Proper timing.

If you haven't timed your car then do so now.

To time the 91 you have to have the engine up to temp.

then using a timing light on number one plug.

unplug the CTS sensor (blue one on the side of the head upper water outlet flange) and rev the engie 3 times over 3000 rmp.

Holding it steady at 2250 RPM, then adjust the timing to 6degrees BTDC. (there is a timing hole in the transmission housing.

I would then replace the CTS sensor (cheap at Napa ) as that is known to cause issues. If you haven't replace the fuel filter now would be a good time to do it.

If you head a whine from the rear passenger side wheel arch when this happens, then you have a restriction in the fuel as in the in-tank fuel pump (also known as the fuel-transfer-pump) is going out or gone out, and causing a restriction to the main pump.

This year of jetta has 3 fuel pumps one in-tank, that feeds to the primary.

I would also highly suggest that you remove the vacuum line that runs from the throttle body to the fuel pressure regulator (on the rear of the throttle body) and see if there is raw gas in it. That is gas that drips out of the hose, if there is then the Fuel pressure regulator is bad.

I would also strongly recommend that you replace all the vacuum hoses on the car as any slight leak causes them to act the ***.

Lastly, make sure that the big black hose from the air filter box to the throttle body is not wholed, and that it is tight to the throttle body and to the airbox. What could be causing my 1991 Volkswagen Jetta GL to be losing power like this?

You already know it needs an exhaust manifold? How do you know this. I think you are mistaken or foolish. Have you had the CEL scanned for a code????? Yeah, there is a lot of data missing here. Still could be other stuff.

Timing, Mass Airflow Sensor, Badd parts in the ignition(out of the box or installed poorly) Plugged muffler from a FAILED catalytic converter.

Your VW is to old, visit mechanic. What could be causing my 1991 Volkswagen Jetta GL to be losing power like this?
Wow Justin!! Without more info about the motor, type of fuel injection, etc, I would not be able to be of much help.

However, the bogging down could be caused by a fuel restriction of sorts. In SA, we had the mk2 in 91 still and they came with motronic injection. Low fuel pressure compared to the older K jetronic system.

My suggestion would be to get it to a good honest mechanic and let him take a look. To many things have been replaced now and nothing has changed. The manifold won't affect it as drastically as this.

Standing does a fuel injection no good at all and they are difficult to understand if you are not experienced..

    Good luck.

    240sx flooded engine problems.?

I changed my stock fuel injectors to 400CC fuel injectors. Stock injectors are 180CC. Something was wrong with my battery so i kept trying to crank the car, i guess to much fuel got into the engine. The car finally started up and died after a few seconds, so i decided to start the car again but it wouldn't start. i tried over 10 times, but nothing. I checked the oil and it was filled with GAS! nothing but gas. So i decided to change the injectors back to stock, and i drained my oil, and i put brand new oil in. I let the car sit for a few days with everything open so the fuel could dry out. Now i started the car and it starts up for a 5 seconds and turns off, and there's a bunch of white smoke coming out the tailpipe and random white smoke coming out the valve. I have no idea what the problem is.

How much damage can a flooded engine do???240sx flooded engine problems.?
I think there's gas that is on your catalytic converter and your motor is trying to burn it and that is where the white smoke is coming from. I dont think you have that much damage done to the car, just a little. I think you'll be fine if you run your car for a little while, have you tried opening the throttle a little bit and trying to let the car finish smoking ?

do you have a thermostat?heat regulator for the motor? if so and your running around 195 deg.f then you need to start eliminating ideas.you have 2 o2 sensors you stated now if you need to more, youll find the wiring harness for them under there. even if there is no hole for the o2 in the exhaust youll find loose connectors. if you dont you dont need them.your check engine is probably on even with new os sensors. resistance readings are out of bounds cause the unburned carbon, so either engine is in cold loop or it might have a limp mode. in limp mode, something isnt functioning so it goes into like a cold start function running rich. gonna need to get diag.::::::Missing O2 Sensors:::::?
if you replace the sensors. and it happens to be the caytalic converter..you will be wasting your money.but if it ain't your catalic converter. yes replacing the sensors. will help. because you are burning on rich. ( i know i mispelled something) you will have to buy the sencors with wires. that is why they were on the seat.::::::Missing O2 Sensors:::::?
there is only two O2 sensors on the car. One upstream(before cat) and one downstream(after cat or in cat). I'd try changing the thermostat and the engine coolant sensor. if it is running cold- ie; not over 185 degrees- or the sensor is giving a false(colder than actual) reading to the ecm.. fuel economy will be greatly diminished.

I own a 2.4L Toyota diesel and may have contaminated the fuel when changing a filter, how will I know?

Changing out the fuel filter I filled it back up with diesel that may have had dirt in it. How will I know if I've gotten debris into the fuel system? Will it clog my injectors, could it possibly make it to the pistons? It probably wasn't over half a gallon but it may have had some dirt in it. I just can't afford a rebuild at this time.I own a 2.4L Toyota diesel and may have contaminated the fuel when changing a filter, how will I know?
From what you are saying you are worried that the fuel tank has dirt in it, well the good news is that the dirt is on the right side of the fuel filter!

You're fuel filter will stop the dirt getting from the fuel tank to the engine.

However if you are really paranoid then drain the tank out, re-seal, fill it with 3 gallons of clean diesel, bounce the truck up and down by hand and re-drain the fuel. Now re-fill with a couple of gallons of clean diesel and rive to the gas station to fill up properly and your done!I own a 2.4L Toyota diesel and may have contaminated the fuel when changing a filter, how will I know?
if your that worried about it dont start it and take the filter back out and pop a new oneback in, if the filter doesnt collect it , it would prossibly clog the injectors

Thank you!06 Civic ex! Fuel Injectors?
Carlos: Do yourself a favor and call a good parts house, ask the guy who is looking up your part, how often someone buys 1 or more injectors for your Year, Make,Model and Engine.Size car?

I'm betting he'll say not very often.

Don't believe everything someone tells you.06 Civic ex! Fuel Injectors?
No. You don't need new fuel injectors. People at an oil change place wouldn't know this and unless there's a performance problem then it would be stupid to replace them on a 3 year old vehicle. Just add fuel injector cleaner and a half tank of premium gasoline from a top tier fuel company (chevron, mobil, or shell)

If you don't know where they are by looking at your engine then you shouldn't be dealing with the injectors in the first place. Fuel + lack of knowledge = hospital.

But...I'll be nice, if you want to kill yourself and possibly your neighbors, then by all means. There is usually a cover over the fuel injectors that's bolted to the block, it should be the only plastic thing in the middle of the engine (as long as you don't have a shroud covering the engine). Generally, most car companies bolt the cover with torx screws and for good reasons, they don't want you to start a fuel fire in your engine compartment.

Again...don't touch this unless you have a friend who knows how to purge fuel from the lines; do not follow an internet website to do a replacement of this type...too much can and will go wrong.

started sputtering and losing power. felt like it was running on 7 cylinders. changed fuel filter, added fuel injector cleaner. checked coil packs, they are good, checked plugs, they are good. there was fluid around one spark plug kinda smelt like gas, but had a hint of antifreeze. not sure though( hopefully not). checked fuel injectors, they are all working. Its not throwing any codes or setting of any lights. could you tell me what you think or worse comes to worse replacing the head gasket. How much does it normally cost to repair a head gasket on a 2002 ford mustang gt? drivers side?
1000? I'm guessing but its the labor that costs so much if you know a mechanic you could save a lot of money if they did the labor for half or free because you have to take the entire engine apart

How did I mess up changing my fuel filter?

I have a 1991 toyota mr2. It was having a problem stalling out, but would usually start right back up, and sometimes it would take 10 or 15 times or a rolling start, but it would always start. I suspected it was the fuel filter. i put a ton of fuel injector cleaner and it stopped stalling completely, but I wanted to change the filter anyway, since it was probably filthy. I changed the fuel filter myself, and it seemed pretty simple, but now the car won't start. I didn't put it in upside down or swith the fuel lines, I'm sure. The only thing I didn't do was replace the bolts or washers, which everybody says you have to do, but I don't understand why. The only thing i could think of is that I misaligned the bolt with the fuel line (the bolt has a little hole in it, which should align with the fuel line) this makes sense, I'm going to try to align them tomorrow. any other suggestions? How did I mess up changing my fuel filter?
Did you change plugs? If you dumped that store bought cleaner in you may of fouled plugs sobad they re not getting electric from wires. Check wires and see if getting ignition nd if it is then check plugs. It is hard to mess up filter.

91 Civic DX getting codes for oxygen sensor and Fuel Injectors! HELP! Answer for a quick 10 points!?

My 91 Civic has been acting funny lately. The exhaust smells bad and its throwing codes 1 and 16 for bad O2 sensor and Bad fuel injectors (respectively). I want to change the o2 sensor to see if it helps fix both problems because the car was running fine just a little bit ago. It bogs downs randomly at high speeds and it almost always stalls in 1st gear (and yes i know how to shift, not a user error on this one). Any help would be appreciated on what to do. It sound slike you don't have a fuel problem. Try looking for a spark. (Incidentally, spraying the injectors outside the engine is dangerous unless you disable the spark first--and I do dangerous things!) Black on the injectors is normal. Take out a plug and look at it.

I think this is an interference engine, so if the tming belt broke you would know about it. If it just skipped that's a possibility but see if you have a spark.Honda civic fuel problem? DONT TURN ON?

    2) Actually have the mechanic CLEAN the injectors, how does he do this...

or 3) Just REPLACE the Fuel Filter, and leave the Injectors alone?

And would i run the Gum-out BEFORE or AFTER the Fuel Filter gets changed.. BEFORE to not put GUMOUT in the NEW Filter, or AFTER to get it through an UNCLOGGED ONE?

Sometimes ny car takes a little bit to turn over, it has slightly staggered starts. If I hold my foot on the Gas, it starts Fine.. but that caoses Engine wear. I already have a Quart of the Lucas in, along with 4 quarts 10W-30 Valvoline MaxLife.

  • '02 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 liter improve gas mileage ?

I want to know if I cut some holes in my air filter cover and cover the holes with a wire mesh; will that help improve my fuel economy?? Also, my truck has 106k miles on it. Do you ever have to change the fuel injectors?? How do you know if one is not performing properly? Any advice is appreciated.%26039;02 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 liter improve gas mileage ?
Holes in the air cleaner is the wrong way to get more mpg. You're creating a temporary lean condition that the computer will eventually compensate for by injecting more fuel. I would just make sure that the air filter is not dirty and leave it at that.

Injectors do wear out over time. Typically, leaky seals will cause emissions problems at idle and clogged injectors will have spray distribution problems at speed. A clogged injector may cause mpg problems but the computer should pick it up before you'd notice it at the pump. An ECU trouble code check would reveal a problem injector.

Do you have a tonneau cover or have the rear tailgate removed? The extra drag from a closed tailgate will make a noticable difference to your mpg. If you need to haul things, get a tonneau cover to get a similar effect.

There are many ways to theoretically improve your mpg but most are too small to notice. The biggest influence on mpg is your right foot.%26039;02 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 liter improve gas mileage ?
cutting holes won't do anything. it's all computer controled. injectors rarely go out , but if they do you might feel a miss or lack of power%26039;02 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 liter improve gas mileage ?
It is because of the smaller cc not really because of the gas mileage. How about 2.0L compare to 3.5L? You know what I mean?

2.7L is too small for Tacoma. At least 3.0L is the minimum.

It just like 2.0L in a Hummer? Now, you know what I want to say? haha..

Fuel injectors = more power if changed out?

I was doing some research, and I was wondering if it's true that if I swapped out my fuel injectors if it would create more power (HP/TQ)? also would it even be noticeable as far as power increase? how will it effect fuel? Just wondering what I can do it enhance the performance of my car. I'm not trying to boost or build a block, nor am I trying to throw down serious power or cause any unreliable circumstances. Just trying to 'enhance' some power. I know adding on a intake, exhaust system and so on would be some simple power enhancements. My goal is to keep under $150.00/ per part. What are some things I can adjust and what are some add ons?

'04 Mazda 3. Manual.Fuel injectors = more power if changed out?
No. Add injectors without changing the fuel mapping and you'll get no power and you probably will get a reduction in gas mileage. You only change the injectors when you want to add more fuel, so it's basically when increasing the output of your supercharger or turbocharger (of which you have neither)...even then you have to adjust the fuel map on your pcm to adjust for the increase of intake air.

You can't buy any of the parts you mentioned for under 150 bucks; maybe an aem short ram. %26quot;Down piped%26quot;...no...just no...the part is called a downpipe it has a catalytic converter in line it attaches to your HEADER (there's only 1). Both are present on your car usually steel and people usually swap for stainless steel with a bigger diameter which is not necessary on most 4-banger cars without a supercharger or turbocharger.

Chipping is stupid. You're going to pay 250 bucks for a Jet chip that you can't alter when you could be a standalone programmable tuner for about 500?

Don't listen to the guy telling you to buy a bigger throttle body. It's not necessary on your car as is.

Let me give you some real advice. Visit the mazda 3 forums and learn something about your car before you spend money on things you know very little about...you know...to save yahoo answerers from having to answer a question about how you screwed up your car by pulling in sand through the intake to do a ghetto-bore.Fuel injectors = more power if changed out?
Adding just injectors without doing anything to the intake would be a waste of money, power gains if any would not be noticable. Keep in mind that an engine is just a big air pump, for performance you need to get as much air in and exhaust out as possible. That is very simplified but I hope it helps.

In my opinion, cold air intake, exhaust, tune the engine control module. Cheapest and easiest way to add a little bit of power to any newer car relatively cheap. After that you are getting into serious planning and compatibility issues between using the right components for what you are running.Fuel injectors = more power if changed out?
    chip the computer

they make programmers all over the place for different setups

don't have to change out any parts and you can unlock somewhere around 15 or so horsepower

you might see an improvement in gas mileage if you can tweak the cars programming just right

get the smoothest intake and exhaust with header pipes all the same length

the smoother the inside of the intake and exhaust throughout the system the better the airflow the better the power and better the gas mileage

just putting bigger output fuel injectors you would probably see a decrease in gas mileage and if you just put ones on there that basically just dump gas, you'll probably just set the check engine lightFuel injectors = more power if changed out?
because the computer is watching the productivity of that engine and trimming the fuel delivered to match the amount of air coming in, you should not see any difference, UNLESS you go to a larger bore throttle body. THEN the increased air could match up to in the increased fuel.Fuel injectors = more power if changed out?
if ur talking performance injectors they shue give u up to 10 horses...which means um maybe 2-3 at the wheels.... and ur stock injectors will do the same thing with a programmer.....so unless ur going to get ur computer programmed(and u shud do this AFTER all other mods like exhaust intake ect..) then ur just wasting ur money on injector swap.....now having them cleaned occasionally isn't a bad idea...walmart does it for 20 bucks.....good luck

How do you clean fuel injectors on a 96 ford contour?

we have been using an additive to the gas, just about everytime we fill up the car. don't know when the car had last tune-up. had the car a little over a year, so far. bought it used from a local off the wall dealer. also, how do you know when you have to change the air filter? i don't know anything about vehicles. thought about bringing the car to a mechanic shop earlier today, to put it on a machine to find out where the problem is coming from...but don't want them to charge me for all kinds of different things that aren't necessary at the moment. one more thing...what happens when a sensor goes out on a car? any suggestions please? How do you clean fuel injectors on a 96 ford contour?
Forget all the other cheap additives....they don't work that well. Get a product called %26quot;Guaranteed To Pass%26quot; as far as additives are concerned it is expensive...but its less than $10....put it in a full tank of gas and drive on the freeway until you are almost on empty. That will clean out every part of the system including the fuel injectors.

As for air filters.....just open it up and have a look. There is no time rule, if it looks nasty...get a new one, they are really cheap and easy to replace.

If you have problems after that I would look up the number of fuel filters you have and get ALL of them replaced. Most people never do that, not sure why but they don't.How do you clean fuel injectors on a 96 ford contour?
find a shop that will sell you some bg44k this is the stuff all of the major manufacturers use to clean your engine when you take it to a dealer ford gm bmw Mercedes Honda Lexus all use it its about 15 bucks a can your check engine light will come on it is a self diagnostic when the lights on a sensor is bad. remove your filter and look between the pleats if its dirty get a new oneHow do you clean fuel injectors on a 96 ford contour?
Not quite sure Y. The best stuff I found and use is %26quot;Lucas fuel injector cleaner%26quot;. You don't have to do any unnecessary driving. A minor tune-up consists of oil, oil filter, spark plugs, wires if grungy or high mileage, air filter %26quot;rec. 12k.%26quot;, fuel filter on mileage 50k.

Your car has over 50 senors need more info !!!!!How do you clean fuel injectors on a 96 ford contour?
Sounds like you're having some minor but irritating problems with the way it's running. If you have a Pep Boys Automotive store in our area, they are really reasonable and do great diagnostic work. Take it in for a tune-up, and ask them to call you if anything else needs attention--that way you will be able to make informed decisions. How do you clean fuel injectors on a 96 ford contour?
Usually when a sensor goes bad, the check engine soon light would usually come on. It really isn't necessary to put injector additive on every fillup. You should change the air filter, when of course, its dirty looking. May have to actually pull it out to see the opposite side. Best time to get a tuneup done is about 100,000 miles on it.

Car surge while running every time it gets hot?

I have a daewoo lanos model 2000. Every time it gets hot it runs rough and surging. I changed the fuel injector, fuel pump, spark plug, spark plug cable wire, and ignition coil but still did not solve the problem. I send it to shop to check for computer but they did not find the cause. Four mechanics have different findings. Is there anybody out there who have the same experience and how did they solve the problem. Thanks..Car surge while running every time it gets hot?
Since this seems to be a temperature related problem, changing stuff like the fuel pump etc is not going to solve it.

Try changing (or testing first) the coolant temperature sensor. This relays information to the ECU which then adjusts fuelling / ignition accordingly for the engine's temperature

How can I clean my 2002 Ford Focus's engine?

I just bought a 2002 Ford Focus and the engine is all dirty. I am thinking of pressure washing it when the engine is cold. Is this a good idea?

Also, my engine hesitates when it is not warmed up. What should I do? I plan to change the spark plugs, change the air filter, add fuel injector cleaner to the gas, and maybe change the fuel filter. Will this solve my problem?

Also, my automatic transmission slips when I am between gears. For example, first gear works fine, but it slips before going into second gear (I can press on the gas, and the transmission doesn't engage right away- the engine just revs up). Is this an electrical problem? How can I clean my 2002 Ford Focus%26039;s engine?
Why would you buy a vehicle with all of these problems without buying an extended warranty????? To clean the engine, You need to buy an engine cleaner at a parts store. Just make sure the vehicle is running when you spray it down with water! How can I clean my 2002 Ford Focus%26039;s engine?
You can pressure wash it - be careful not to spray directly on electrical components and stuff. I tend to just let my engine look nasty, since it has zero effect on the way it runs.

Alternately you could spray it off with some engine cleaner and wipe it off (probably suggestable - since you can seriously damage stuff with the pressure washer if you aren't careful).

Your maintanance ideas all sound like they should help out, if not, you might want to see if you can find someone with a compression tester, to make sure that your valves are all seating correctly, and the piston rings aren't shot. If it runs okay when it is warm, then everything is probably ok.

The transmission is kind of worrying - make sure it has enough transmission fluid. If it keeps doing it, then you might want to take it to someone to flush the transmission, replace the filter, and put fresh fluid in it. If it still keeps doing it, then you will probably need to find someone who can repair/rebuild it. Expect to pay way too much money - shop around for some quotes, and make sure to find someone reliable and reasonable. If you aren't sure about it, see if anyone you know can recommend someone, or can help you to choose a mechanic.

Good luck!!How can I clean my 2002 Ford Focus%26039;s engine?
warm your engine up...spray it with GUNK degreaser... power wash... the tuneup parts you listed should take care of your hesitation problem...the trans is more serious...and it will get worse if you don't have it looked at...it could be as easy as a vacuum control valve ...a trans filter or low on fluid....or it could be much more complicated. How can I clean my 2002 Ford Focus%26039;s engine?
I have washed many engines, with varying results. Using Gunk engine cleaner, it came clean but every light on the dash came on and stayed on for days until it finally dried ? This on a newer Caddy. My old Chevy with points, carb etc had no ill effects. Others skipped and knocked until fully dry. NO pressure washing ! As for tranny problems, any good auto parts place has a myriad of things to correct this. I've used them successfully twice out of 2 tries. How can I clean my 2002 Ford Focus%26039;s engine?
OK, firstly, cleaning an engine is easy, but don't pressure wash it whatever you do.

Just get some cling film and wrap up any electrical items that aren't covered particulalry well.

Then, spray a load of GUNK (it's a degreaser available from auto shops, or you can use Autoglym's MACHINE CLEANER, or even MUC OFF) and agitate it with a stiff brush, radiator brushes are ideal as they have good lonf handles for easy reach.

Then just rinse off with a normal hose pipe. Run the engine to dry everything off, and then give all the plastic and rubber components a liberal spray with a rubber protector, back to black for instance.

If the car is due a good service with plugs and filters, that will sort your hesitating out 9 times out 10. Poor plugs and gapping are the normal cause.

As for slipping, hmm, fords CVT box is a bit of a dog, there will always be what seems like slipping with an Auto box, and upshifts aren't instantaneous when you plant your foot in any auto. Which is why sports cars very rarely have auto boxes.

  • Is This a bad fuel pressure regulator?

I have a 91 cavalier z24 with the 3.1 v6. I was having problems with it starting. It would start up then shut off, and then start right back up and run fine. I took it to the shop, and they changed the fuel filter, and cleaned the fuel injectors. It starts on the first start now and runs good, but every once in awhile I smell fuel, and when I am at highway speeds and let off the gas my car like hesitates like it is not getting enough fuel. It like jerks back and forth for a second. This only does it when slowing down. Does this sound like a bad fuel pressure regulator? How tough is it to change a fuel pressure regulator? ThanksIs This a bad fuel pressure regulator?
Try a couple of taks of gas at a different filling station. Had a similar prob with my VW 1.6 and two tanks of decent fuel solved it.Is This a bad fuel pressure regulator?
I had very similar problems with my 93 cavalier RS 3.1 L, V6. I found the fuel pressure regulator was leaking gas through the vaccum lines into the air intake, and into the map sensor flooding it with gas. I'm in the process of replace it now. What a pain in the rear.

How to tell fuel pump is broken - 1994 Chevy Suburban?

1994 Chevrolet Suburban 195,000 miles. 2 days ago had new cap, rotor, control module, wires and plugs put in by my mechanic. Before this work the vehicle would only start intermittanly (thought control module was bad). It never stoped running after it started but after starting it up a couple of times it just stopped starting. It turns over fine. Mechanic said he checked fuel pump - with in specs. Usually starts after sitting but since tune up it did the same thing wouldnt start after a couple of times and now wont start. Today, pulled air cleaner off to look at injectors but no fuel coming out when vehicle is turning over. Gave tank a few whacks with hammer to see if I could jar fuel pump but nothing. Is probably fuel pump but could it be - coil? IAC Valve? fuel pump relay (how to check)? oil pump? pick up coil (what is this)? Any advice to taking out fuel tank to change fuel pump? Dont want to pay $500 of labor just to take out tank to replace $75 part. Thanks for any helpHow to tell fuel pump is broken - 1994 Chevy Suburban?
Like every one else said check to see if the pump works and the filter is not clogged. Turn on the key without cranking the engine. For about 1/2 second the fuel pump will run to pressurize the fuel system and you will here the quiet buzzing noise it makes in the area of the fuel tank. If you can hear the pump running pull the coil wire and crank the engine, if you dont get any spark then the problem is the ignition module. The module sends signal to the injectors and the coil because they have to fire in time with each other! So when one isnt working the other one usually doesnt either! How to tell fuel pump is broken - 1994 Chevy Suburban?
Bad fuel pressure regulator may be bleeding off pressure to the return line or crank/cam sensor is bad and computer won't fire the injectors because of no signal. Do you hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key on? If not, could be a bad pump or relay...test for power coming from the relay to the pump....check for a bad ground as well. If the pump hums and you have good pressure, I'd say you have other issues like the sensors. Best to buy a shop manual like Chilton or Haynes for the procedure on pulling the tank if needed. How to tell fuel pump is broken - 1994 Chevy Suburban?
If you can find it, check the fuel filter. It might be clogged with dirt, which would certainly starve your engine of fuel. That would be a relatively cheap and easy fix.How to tell fuel pump is broken - 1994 Chevy Suburban?

How will I know when it's time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?

I recently bought a used (24,000 mi) 2005 Chrysler Sebring and took it to a car wash/oil change place to establish a baseline for future oil changes. The car wash tries to get you to have extra things done... radiator flush, fuel injector cleaning, windshield replacement etc. They said my fuel injectors need to be cleaned... how can tell if they know what they're doing or just trying to take my money? How will I know when it%26039;s time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?
Sounds like a shyster outfit. Just get the STP stuff at a parts store every few tank fulls. Follow the guidelines in the operator manual (if you have it or look on line) for maintenance. Replace windshield when needed, use your eyes to figure this out, my 1987 still has the original and it is good. Radiator should not ever need to be flushed if taken care of properly, change coolant at mfr spec interval (perhaps 100,000 miles), NEVER use tap water in it.How will I know when it%26039;s time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?
Just based on age the injector cleaning is overdue. To wait for a problem to occur can result in expensive injector replacement. Changing the fuel filter every couplef years i also a good idea on fuel injected cars since the fuel keeps recycling through the filter as it's returned after the pressure regulatorHow will I know when it%26039;s time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?
They're just trying to get your money. Injectors on an older car - like 75,000 miles old - might benefit from being cleaned correctly, by which I mean having the injectors pulled out and having cleaning fluid pumped backwards through them. Even then, I probably wouldn't do it unless the car is a race car and needs every last horsepower, the car has a missfire, or you have just bought an unknown set of used injectors. But 25,000 miles is not enough time for the injectors to get plugged. How will I know when it%26039;s time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?
Clean them when the engine appears not to run as smoothly as it normally does. They are trying to take your money. You do not have enough miles on the car to warrant getting the injectors cleaned. If you are worried about keeping them clean I highly recommend Lucas.

If an injector really does have a problem the engine will be missing at the cylinder with the injector problem.

I owned a 1985 Volvo (recently traded for a new car) with fuel injection. I had the car for 6 years, never had the injectors cleaned and I don't think the previous owner did either. The car had 275,000 miles at trade time. My mom's 1988 Plymouth Grand Voyager never had an injector cleaning either...335,000 miles. You'll know when the engine starts running ragged, and your gas mileage goes down. Normally there is no reason to take them out and clean them. Generally the book provided by the manufacturer states when to do things, you could always call a service department at the dealer too. Do not trust the oil change places, they should stick to selling oil and not maintenance.

If your car is extremely sluggish, has poor acceleration, stalls, etc... then you need to get them cleaned. The best way to keep from having the problem is to prevent it with injector cleaners added every couple of tanks, and use good gas.How will I know when it%26039;s time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?
Your fuel injectors in all probability should not need cleaning. Unless some how forein substance entered your gas line, more than likely it is not the case. Try some dry gas or high octane rated fuel. Stay away from the place. Go to an expert for advice and do as much of the work you can yourself. Yes of course they are trying to take your money thats what they do.How will I know when it%26039;s time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?
I am a service writer in Georgia for this car company. Fuel injectors do become %26quot;gunked somewhat by carbon over time. Injector cleaners from autopart stores really cant clean as well as these do. As for the coolant flush..I have seen waterpumps blades actually rust away due to flushes not being performed as they should over the life of a vehicle. Sure they are trying to %26quot;upsell%26quot; services but some of the services will save you repairs on down the road. Here is a guideline for you. Injector and coolant flushes every 36k to 40k. Transmission service every 50K. This will save you big repir bills down the road! Some will argue this timetable but it is what I use here at my shop. Hope it helps! How will I know when it%26039;s time to have my fuel injectors cleaned.?
Usually it does not need cleaning. If all the oil change and maintenance is done.

Owner manual does prints required interval.

If you notice any loss of power for no reason and suspect injectors, You can keep it clean by adding manufacturer's approved products to the gas tank at regular interval. By the way gas is blended for local condition, most have additives that are suppose to keep injectors clean.

    PS:

Chrysler dealer parts department will sale you a bottle of injector cleaner and it has instructions on it. You may want to use this regularly if you are in stop and go traffic or driving on gravel or dirt road or going thru construction that produces dust. CNG compress natural gas, what CR(compression ratio require?) cost?

wondering of the detail of CNG, probably special fuel tank, injectors, intake? carb? change fuel lines? will HP decrease? how to get more HP if HP horsepower decrease? wonder would it work on old 60's cars as well modern Fuel Injection cars?

what the cost, HP increase, stay the same.

    MPG.

where do you get a fill up?

    thank

CNG compress natural gas, what CR(compression ratio require?) cost?
Special tank - yes, that's why it's more popular in pickups and large trucks.

Inject or carb - I don't know about injectors but there is a %26quot;mixer%26quot; that fits on top of a carb that feeds the cng after you switch off the gasoline. It replaces the carb if you go total cng.

Yes, horsepower will be less unless you increase the compression ratio, which I have seen up to 18:1 in dedicated applications.

Cost - 20 years ago it was about $2000 to $2500 depending on the vehicle.

Where to fill - a conversion can be done to run on propane which you can buy at any place that refills for your gas grill/bbq.

Why is "traction engaged" displayed on my 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood?

It's a 1993 Fleetwood brougham. I recently changed my fuel injector and soon after doing so, the %26quot;traction engaged%26quot; light came off. The pressure now builds against my gas pedal to where it pushes back whenever I press it.

It's gotten to a point where I can't accelerate past 30mph without the gas pedal completely pushing my foot back. Please tell me how I can fix this and/or what it means. Thanks! Why is %26quot;traction engaged%26quot; displayed on my 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood?
Sounds like the traction control system is engaging and slowing your vehicle down for you. Usually it's only supposed to do this when you're in low traction conditions, gravel, mud, snow, etc (it's an earlier/less sophisticated version of Stabilitrak in newer GM vehicles).

It looks like yours is malfunctioning and engaging all the time. Not sure why it would do it after you changed a fuel injector. You might want to take it to the dealer or a local shop to have it looked at. Could be bad speed sensors or bad computer.

yes they can go without any warning but sometimes it,s not the pump but the fuel filter.some people just think it,s the pump when it don,t start but the fuel filter can act like the pump when it gets clogged. the filter can get pretty clogged that gas can,t go through them. also your problem could be the pump regulator on the fuel rail.

How can you check your fuel injectors?

on your car to know exactly which one needs to be changed? I have a 95 Buick Lesabre and its in need of new fuel injectors. They are expensive to repair, and would like to find out which one is bad instead of changing all 6! I know its the injectors b/c the repair shop stated its the problem. How can you check your fuel injectors?
Well Since it is a 1995 you can Need an ODB 1 Diagnostic Computer, But here is what you can do You can go to Autozone and they will put the computer on it and check the fault code in the computer just to make sure what they tell you is correct , and you can have a Cylinder Cut Out test done which will Take Power from all the Injectors till you find which one isnt hitting So say you Cut power from 1 Injector and the Engine Starts to Miss Hard then you know its a Strong Injector if it doesnt and doesnt change the way the engine is running this thats your fowled injector, Another way is to Disconnect the Connectors on top of the Injector Till you find out which injector Doesnt Hit!

    How to Replace Fuel Injectors?

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, and it appears that one of my injectors is bad. I want to replace it, and I have the Haynes manual, but it doesn't seem to match up with my model.

As far as I can tell, the fuel rail and injectors are underneath the intake manifold. Does anybody have any experience replacing the fuel injectors on a grand prix? Do i just need to remove the intake manifold?

Also, are the intake manifold gaskets reusable? or will I need to replace it when I change the injectors.

Thanks for your help. How to Replace Fuel Injectors?
Yes you have to remove the plenum. (upper intake). After you get that out of the way theres three 10mm bolts that have to be removed in order to lift the fuel rail. Do yourself a favor and don't disconnect the fuel lines from the rail. It's work you don't have to do.theres also a small clip that holds each injector in. as for the gaskets. you can only if your able to get the plenum off without destroying them. Also keep in mind that those engines can trap air in the cooling system. Be sure to bleed it properly. How to Replace Fuel Injectors?
I have the 3.1 engine and my codes are telling me that my 2 injector is stuck open. the car is also running very rich. I don't see how they would be accessible without removing the intake manifold. Anyone up for giving me some step by step directions? Thanks..

    How to Replace Fuel Injectors?
it probably has the 3800 engine so you don,t have to pull the intake. all you have to do is let the fuel pressure off, unhook the fuel line to the fuel rail, unhook the battery, take the harness off all the injectors, take the fuel rail off and pull the bad injector out, oil up the new injector 0-ring, install the injector, and put it all back together but after you get done don,t forget to bleed the air out at the fuel rail.

Next thing is the timing chain. a week ago I bought a Ranger $75 becauce they couldn't get it to run, they put in a new injectors, fuel pumps, DIS module, sparkplugs, wires coils. I put in a $7 timming belt, runs great. If there was a injector problem the computer would tell you, Remember the four things a engine needs Air, Fuel, Spark, and all at the right time. If your truck has 100,000 miles or more it's probably the timing chain.

Sorry gearbox, you are right, the 300 6 has gears but they can still wear. I lost the gear on my distributor at 300K miles once.

kwhotrods's I can't believe I forgot about that one. It's the first thing I check on the roadside. great answerI have fuel going to my engine but it%26039;s not getting fuel. I changed the fuel regulator. What next?
see if your injectors are firing...listen to them with a stetoscope or long screwdriver held to your ear..they should be clicking loudly when turming overI have fuel going to my engine but it%26039;s not getting fuel. I changed the fuel regulator. What next?
Fuel filter?I have fuel going to my engine but it%26039;s not getting fuel. I changed the fuel regulator. What next?
A fuel pressure gauge will let you know if the engine is getting enough fuel pressure to run. If it is, then use a test light to see if the injectors have power to one side, and a pulsing ground to the other side of the wiring connector. If all this is good, then the injectors are bad. The fuel in them may have varnished, clogging them up. 1991 is pre dpi, or deposit resistant injectors, and were bad about that. And chocolate chip!!!I have fuel going to my engine but it%26039;s not getting fuel. I changed the fuel regulator. What next?
If there is no fuel at the injectors check the emergency shut off switch.I have fuel going to my engine but it%26039;s not getting fuel. I changed the fuel regulator. What next?
step one no timing chain.. has a gear

Ok how far is it getting gas? I'm asking as those trucks went from a low pressure pump in the tank, to a switcher, to a higher pressure on the rail to a fuel filter to the fuel line and then the regulator to go back

if you have any blocks along the way it will stop it... also try starting the truck without any jumping off the starter solenoid if someone is doing that, sometimes it messes them up like that....

But after that, you will need to get a fuel pressure gauge.. in the US I think this is one of the things autozone and other mass stores lend out to customers for a fee .. you will need about 50 psi of fuel pressure at the rail for it to be really healthy.

if you have 50 psi of pressure, then you will need to see if the engien is sparking to see if the ignition module may have gone out.. if yes you have other issues...

But my guess is you have fuel pressure but either not enough or the fuel is so varnished that it won;t start.. and would need to be cleaned to get working again.I have fuel going to my engine but it%26039;s not getting fuel. I changed the fuel regulator. What next?
the pressure regulator may be gummed up, try some starting fluid and see if the pump will push the fuel thru while the engine is running on the starting fluid, it might take a couple of times

  • How to repair P0507 Idle Control system high on Nissan Altima 2003?

I check my fuel injector, change the oil filters and gas filter. and my car still sounds like it's idling highHow to repair P0507 Idle Control system high on Nissan Altima 2003?
Idle speed control speed needs to be reduced. P0507 happens when the suggested idle speed from the Engine control does not match up with reccomended idle rpm. For your information the throttle chamber is a 5/50,000 mile item and if your car has less than 70,000 on it Nissan Might goodwill the part replacement. $750 you will not spend. Be nice just ask. Now if you have never returned to the dealer for anything like oil changes tire rotates and service Nissan might think you do not like them.

The Story go's I was thinking about purchasing the new 2007 Altima due out anytime soon but if you all cannot repair my current car I might think I will go with a Toyota Camary!!How to repair P0507 Idle Control system high on Nissan Altima 2003?
The best way is to take the car to a well experienced mechanic shop that knows how to fix that type of problem.

How do i change injector o-ring on a 92 ford explorer?

I have a fuel leak at the fuel injector and would like to replace the o-ring before replacing the injectorHow do i change injector o-ring on a 92 ford explorer?
pull the injector out and change itHow do i change injector o-ring on a 92 ford explorer?
You have to unbolt the fuel rail (the chrome tude running over the injectors) from the intake, it should only be two small bolts per side. Then lift it, it will seem stuck, you have to pull hard but it will come up and free the injectors. Then just remove the bad injector which will either be stuck to the rail or the intake manifold. So you will have to pull hard and wiggle it until it comes out. Then replace the o-ring and put it all back together again. Now what you have to do just to get to the injector rail and have enough clearance to pull it out of the way. Depends on how much stuff is over and around it, you might have to remove or loosen a bunch of other things. But that fuel rail is the only thing holding the injectors in place. Good Luck!!!

Chevy Astro Van Check Engine Light On - Air Idler Problem ???

Need someone who really know a Chevy Astro Van (1993 4.3L 2WD Extended Passenger Van)

    This is How it happens.

    1. Fuel injector bad, change the Fuel injector.

    2. Map senor bad, Change new map senor.

    3. Air idle problem, Change Air idle sensor.

    4. Regulator bad, no pressure, Change the Fuel injector/regulator set again.

    5. Everything looks fine.

    6. Engine Run on idle for 10 mins till engine is hot, Check Engine light is on again. Computer Shows that it is the Air idle problem again.

    7. Change fuel line and Fuel pump.

Is this because I did not clean the Air Throttle Body or the Air idle sensor is bad again, or something else.

Computer said ok to drive, and it is ok to drive, but if i let the vehicle idle for 20 seconds, the check engine light will come on again with the same message.

Can someone Help !!!!!Chevy Astro Van Check Engine Light On - Air Idler Problem ???
    Dear Astro Van-

Well it looks like you had your work cut out for you.

There is one detail that I really needed to know, and that was which 4.3L was in this Astro. The 8th VIN Digit will either be a %26quot;Z%26quot; or a %26quot;W%26quot; which indicates a Vortec 4.3L or the TBI Engine.

    OK Here we go.

On the vans that are equipped with the %26quot;Z%26quot; motor they use a fuel injector setup that was a good idea, just poor execution.

The injector system used a Timed Fuel Distributor with these black soda straws that went out to each cylinder within the intake manifold. Depending on the type, (Generation 1 or Generation 2) you would either be required to replace the entire fuel distrubutor system, or you could replace the individual injector that wad bad.

These vans were also equipped with a TBI, (Throttle Body Injector). This looks like a modified Carbuetor with two large fuel injectors placed over a two barrel throttle plate and venturi body. If this is your system, then you need to check the base gasket on this TBI Unit. The base gaskets were notorious for becoming brittle and cracked . If you remove the air cleaner and open the throttle plates you may see a chunk of black hanging out down below the throttle plates. If you see this, this is the base gasket and it cracked and needs to be replaced.

The Idle Air Control Solenoids were also an issue on these vans. This is a round part that will have a plug on it normally near the base of the TBI Unit. This will just require a quick replacement.

The last thing that it might be on this van is the electronically controlled EGR Valve. This valve used to cause this van some trouble from time to time, and I know there was a warranty campaign on these parts. the valve will need to be replaced if this is the case.

My advice to you is to take the van to your local Chevrolet Dealership and let them have a look at it. If there are any warranty campaigns that need to be done to the vehicle, they may be covered under warranty with little or no charge to you. But the Chevrolet Dealership will have to make that determination.

Keep in mind that, yes you are paying a little more at the dealerships, but they are also working on that product all of the time and have the most up to date service information available to them.

I work in a Chevrolet Dealership. Most of the time when customers come in with trouble with their Chevrolet Products, they have taken them to a private shop for issues such as the ones that you are experiencing. Normally when these vehicles leave the Dealership, they are not having problems anymore. Also Chevrolet backs up all of the work their technicians perform with a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty on the work and the parts.

It may cost you a few buck more, but I own two Chevrolet's and the piece of mind is worth the extra money I pay.

I hope I helped you out! Good Luck!Chevy Astro Van Check Engine Light On - Air Idler Problem ???
Since you stated this is a %26quot;W%26quot; engine, my guess is that it will be the base gasket on the TBI Unit, which will mean removal of this unit to replace the gasket. If this does nit solve the problem, then you have an ECM Issue, and only the dealer can repair it.

the idle air control code does not mean the sensor is bad for sure.

you need to test the wireing harness.

and a sludged up throttle body could also cause this code

when you replaced it the first time was the passage clean?

if the throttle body is clean you need to test the wire harness

for 5 volt reverence and return signals from the sensor.
