Car problems is this price fair?

Hey, my car is in the shop, So far I've sunk a total of 724 dollars into it getting the front end repaired, A new tire, Rim, Oil change, wheel alignment.

They are saying now that I have a leaky fuel injector which is probably true. They said that it is like three hundred or so to replace it. Also, that they can only tell if one is leaking right now and that they have to take something off to see if other fuel injectors are leaking. So far I'm looking at a 1,000+ repair bill. I know my car isn't worth it, but I can't get a new one anytime soon. So how much do fuel injectors usually cost (part and labor?) Thanks!Car problems is this price fair?
I've been a professional Technician for 12 years, and I've seen alot of crooks out there! The first thing I'd advise to you is, to get an estimate before you have any work done, no matter how bad you need your car back. Take that estimate and compare it to what other shops would charge you for the same work. But for what i'm reading about the work done on your car. If they had to replace front end parts on your car, it could get very expensive. Just depends on what they replaced. If they're putting a new tire and rim on your car, that could be costly. your typical alignments run around 45.00 to 85.00 depending on the car. an oil change runs around 20.00 to 30.00. I've seen fuel injectors leak myself, but it's not the injector but the seal on the nozzle of the injector that leaks. On your car it would usually run around 40.00 to change and the fuel injector itself runs about 140.00 a piece new. So it doesn't sound like there ripping you off, but you probably could get a better deal somewhere else.Car problems is this price fair?
Getting your tires aligned here is like $350, so it sounds like your doin pretty good , but watch out for fraud cause no matter what they will tell you something is wrong just so they can suck you dry!Car problems is this price fair?
How does car run? If it runs fine and you don't smell gas, take it somewhere else and get a second opinion. %26quot;leaky%26quot; fuel injectors sound fishy to me.Car problems is this price fair?
It depends on what type of car you have the best way to find out how much the parts are is to call an Advance Auto, Napa, parts house; give them your make, model, engine size for the parts you need and get a price listand then add around forty-five dollars an hr for labor. It usually takes about a hour to two hrs to change one. I hope this helps you out. Good Luck!!Car problems is this price fair?
Yeah...no that is a load of crap...I am an 18yr old Diesel freak...and there is no such thing as a leaky injector...your injector could just be worn out...such as a solenoid. Which means you will be miss-firing... If your engine shakes at idle engine speed or when you creep forward then your miss-firing. If you don't feel a shake in your engine then they're trying to screw you over...First of all you could tell if your other injectors are leaking by pluging in a computer to your on-board computer. Depending on the year i guess... If your vechicle is before 90' then you don't have an on-board computer. Bad fuel injectors will miss fire your engine...So even if you don't have have a computer to check your injectors then you can still check with out even lifting the hood. cause you can feel it!!! If they did have to take anything off to get to these injectors it will most likely be your intake manifold and thats about it...nothing big. I would highly suggest refering to another gear head who can look at your car. Injectors will cost you approx $100 give take $20...That is per injector...so if you have a 6 cylinder it would cost you $600 approx to replace your injectors. If you have any gear heads for friends they can replace your injectors...other mechanics will just screw you over. But as far as labor for injectors i don't know. I do it myself so couldn't tell you. sorry

Also if that is the three-hundreth'd time that they have to replace it...then the your manufacturer would be recalling that part!!! Unless you have many miles on your car.

injectors have nothing to do with the inside of your car...thats something else. you wouldn't smell gas inside because of an injector.
