Does anyone have experience in changing the spark plugs on a 2003 ford expedition?

I see that the fuel injection heads are in very close proximity to the spark plugs and was wondering if I can get some advice or a link stating in detail how to go about accomplishing the task. Now I am assuming that the Fuel Injectors get removed. Any advise on the process for replacing the spark plugs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks In Advance. Ben-Does anyone have experience in changing the spark plugs on a 2003 ford expedition?
The actual process itself is not very difficult to describe. It is can be a very challenging task for someone who is inexperienced, due to the tight confines of this particular application. You DO NOT need to remove the fuel injectors to start with. The ONLY thing you need to remove are the eight COPs (Coil-On-Plugs) to gain access to the spark plugs. To do this, simply disconnect all eight COPs by disconnecting each electrical connector by simply squeezing and pulling gently on the connector to each COP. Next, get your 1/4%26quot; drive ratchet and short extension with either a 7mm or 9/32%26quot; socket and remove the one bolt that secures each COP to the intake manifold. Remove each COP by simply twisting and pulling it out of each spark plug hole, GENTLY. You may want to inspect each COP rubber boot and replace as necessary. Be careful of the one under the fuel rail connection to the fuel supply line. Once this is achieved, simply remove all eight spark plugs using a suitably sized extension and spark plug socket. The four that are on the passenger side may be a little more difficult to access due to the heater hoses being in the way, especially if this vehicle is equipped with rear heat and A/C. Just be careful. One final note. USE ONLY Ford/Motorcraft spark plugs. Aftermarket plugs seem to be known to cause issues on these vehicles. Hope this helps.Does anyone have experience in changing the spark plugs on a 2003 ford expedition?
No problem at all. You're Very Welcome.

I do not believe the fuel rail has to come off if this is like f 2004 f 250 i did today the coil on plug design requires a 7 mm socket and about 3 hours of frustration. a set of locking extensions and a plug socket with a swivel attached also very reccomendable for the job. good luck oh and i had the luxury of a topside creeper.

What services should I get for my vehicle on a regular basis?

I recently got my oil changed and they were offering many other services, such as cleaning the fuel injectors, etc. I would like to know which services do I actually need to get and how frequently do they need to be preformed? Also, if you happen to know approximately how much these services should cost, that would be great too. My car is only 2006, if that matters. Thank you! What services should I get for my vehicle on a regular basis?
Inside your glove box is a owners manual. All the necessary services are outlined in that book to keep your car maintained and warranty in effect. One must look at a modern engine as a giant air pump. so lubrication is key to keeping parts from wearing out to fast. Oil changes air filters quality gasoline and manufactures recommended service items like transmission drain and fills differential oil changes (timing belts) if equip. Most modern cars not have non serviceable wheel bearings but the brake pads wear down and rotors need resurfacing or replacing when worn thin. Tires on modern cars last 30,000 to 60,000 miles. However performance of a quality tire made for speed and handling may diminish after as few as 10,000 miles but the tread still look ok. The tire just does not stick to the road as well. Other parts of cars are so improved these days owners just don't need to think about them. Used to be shock absorbers every 30,000 miles. Any more they may never need replacing as long as the owner owns the car. Tune ups now last 100,000 miles To bad the spark plug wires won't last that long. Some cars do not have wires just individual coils. Fan belts can easily last 60,000 miles. So if you think the mechanice are getting rich these days think again.

Wallet Flushes (Yes Wallet Flushes) flushes 150 dollars from your wallet into the shop owners wallet. Most the time are not part of your owners manual list of periodic servicing and and in some cases may cause damage to insulation of the internal wires of the fuel injectors and may damage plastic parts of the fuel system. Actually chemical cleaners may not actually clean pistons valves and combustion chambers any better than %26quot;Top Cly Cleaners%26quot; Like Marvel Mystery Oil. Used from 1920 and still sold today.

Now the rub cars are computerized and so complex that in order to get the correct servicing you must return to the Manufactures authorized dealership to get the correct soft-ware, recalls and service bullitens performed. The best you can do is ask questions and talk to other car owners of your brand of car and join a web ring of owners with the same interests. Keep the oil clean perform the owners manual services. And drive the car like you paid for it! I can tell you maintence sure is expensive. But lack of maintence is even more costly and kills the reliability of the car or truck no matter who built it. Get to know a quality mechanic you can talk to eye to eye who has your interests at heart.

Racing or driving hard? I change my fluids all of them before and after the track day. That way I can see any metal worn off in the oils. Tear that part down and repair it before it blows up.What services should I get for my vehicle on a regular basis?
I work at a dealership and yes they do this to make money, and the service consultant also makes money. But at the same time you should do it, because its recommenced and if you ever have a warranty issue it can be denied due to improper maintenance. What services should I get for my vehicle on a regular basis?
On a 2006 with about 30,000 miles besides the oil you need the air filters changed about every 30k or sooner and all the fluids and tire pressure should be checked with every oil change.

Thats a general early maintenance schedule but the best thing to do is look at the service manual that came with the car because every car is different.

Good luck !What services should I get for my vehicle on a regular basis?
OIl change.....20.00

Fuel injector service...89.99 most places

Tune-up 300.00-----500.00

Air filter 20.00 or less

Gas filter 15.00---20.00

Timing belt every 60,000

Timing chain....100,000

Drive belt----60.00 or lessWhat services should I get for my vehicle on a regular basis?
Go by the owner's manual, or better yet, go to the manufacturer's website and punch in your model and review the recommended maintenance intervals.

A place like Jiffy Lube will recommend changing your oil every 3000 miles, but my Corolla oil is supposed to be changed every 5000 miles. The good thing about bringing it in more often is they have a better chance of spotting a belt or hose about to give out before it fails, or some other dangerous situation.

Services almost always cost more at the dealership than other shops, unless they are covered as part of your warranty. Stick to the recommended intervals for the sake of your warranty!

Sometimes shops will suggest flushing your differential, whereas the manufacturer makes no mention of this as required maintenance, and some technicials say this is even a risky procedure and can cause more harm than good.

94 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L V6 with some issues. Please help!?

I need some help from someone who knows what they are talking about and please don't waste my time by telling me to junk the car. I am mechaniclly inclined but still need some help.

Issues with my car: hard to start in the mornings but starts fine the rest of the day, from a stop it has very poor acceleration and there is almost no response when i push the pedal to the floor at normal speed, it just slowly gains speed, and i have black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and I get less than 100 miles out of a 16 gallon tank. Also the front end of the car shakes around 20 to 25 and goes away around 30 mph.

Things I've done: new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, air filter, PCV valve, gas cap, oil change and filter, fuel filter, coolant flush, and thermostat. Cleaned throttle body, intake manifold, MAF, and linkage. Replaced transmission fluid, filter, and gasket. Replaced fuel injector o rings and fuel line o rings, and fuel regulator. Replaced about half of the air and vaccuum hoses, and several gasket on throttle body. I also pulled an EGR valve from a junked car of the same kind as mine and put it on mine.

What am I missing? Could it be one of the hoses leaking that I haven't replaced yet? Timing issue? Why am I running so rich?

If you have any suggestions that I can do myself please let me know and give me a break down of how to do it. Thanks for your help.94 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L V6 with some issues. Please help!?
First thing I would do is get the codes scanned. Either a mechanic or autozone, you need a code to give you direction. It could be a bad engine coolent sensor or a MAF sensor, cleaning it would solve a lean condition and you have a rich condition, or the pcm causing this. Egr wont do this unless it was stuck open, but then it wouldnt idle if it was. Get the codes then post back what they are and I can give you some better direction. Low fuel psi is not the issue with black smoke . Also a fuel psi check would be helpfull, should have 35 at idle and 40 when the pedal is goosed.94 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L V6 with some issues. • Quote for repairs to a Infiniti J30?

I am receiving a Infiniti J30 for my senior years of high school. The car looks really good, no accidents. I need to change the head gasket seal, the fuel injectors, and the starter and replace the air filter. Also I need to get the outside door handle fixed as it won't open the driver side door from the outside and the driver side window is completely off track, but the motor still works fine. How much could I expect for these repairs to cost me so I know how hard I need to work this summer?? :)Quote for repairs to a Infiniti J30?
The injectors are $194.70 each from Infiniti, there are six on the car.. The starter is $425.57. Head gasket $122.59Quote for repairs to a Infiniti J30?
more than its worthQuote for repairs to a Infiniti J30?
I would expect to work hard considering you will also have to pay for gas too. I would hope 20 hrs a week would do it. Maybe $1000 or so depending on your area - labor prices vary by area.Quote for repairs to a Infiniti J30?
A proper quote would be from a mechanic who can take a look at it.

The mechanic will be able to tell the difference between a valve cover gasket and a head gasket.

Mine just did.. While idling in the Driveway.

I put my last .25 Gallons in.. and it worked through the Lines.

is this a good time to consider getting my Fuel Filter chnaged? How much gas should i put in if i Intended to get my Fuel Filter changed? Also, should i buy any %26quot;Fuel Injector%26quot; cleaners, since there is almost NO gas in there like Sea Foam?

    Thanks!

    Binky, Binky, Binky!

All that hard work getting the new head on and getting old Bessy to run and you forgot gas!

    My Oh My!

Are you still a bit strapped for cash? A new filter and SeaFoam wouldn't hurt, but aren't really needed. Spend the extra for some more gasoline, then buckle Binky and ride! How bad is it for a car when it Runs Out of Gas?
No harm will come from simply running out of gas - the harm can come from continually cranking the engine when it is out of gas. The gas is the only lubricant and cooling agent for the electric fuel pump.

And you are correct, now would be a good time to change out the fuel filter since there would be a minimum amount of pressure and fuel left in the lines.

Just add gasoline - there's no need for any other additives. How bad is it for a car when it Runs Out of Gas?
Any pump can get plugged or jammed. (oil, gas, power steering, water (radiator))

Corrosion, degraded rubber bellows, seats, gaskets can suffocate the screen of the pump.

I twisted the drive to an oil pump like a licorice stick on an old Mercury because the screen was plugged with hardened/broken push rod bellows.

Best to keep the pump(s) sucking %26quot;juice%26quot; instead of sediment.

Top it off.How bad is it for a car when it Runs Out of Gas?
Well, if it was a vintage old beater with a mechanical pump, it wouldn't hurt it at all.

This thing has GOT to be fuel injected, hence, it has an electric fuel pump inside the tank.

Electric fuel pumps do not like to be ran dry; it shortens their life significantly.

I wouldn't worry near as much about my filter as I would my pump.

FTR electric fuel pump + labor = .$

Good luck. How bad is it for a car when it Runs Out of Gas?
hard on the fuel pump running the tank low like that as the pump needs gas to keep it cool, if you haven't changed the fuel filter for awhile I would change it after you get some gas in the vehicle and it won't hurt anything adding some fuel injector cleaner to the gas.How bad is it for a car when it Runs Out of Gas?
not good for a car to run it much under a 1/4 tank

    can burn out fuel pump

low fuel in tank let sweat form more so in winter then you get water down fuel and problems

rusting inside tank stopped up filters and Fuel Injector

should ad fuel treatments three or more times year more so in winter monthsHow bad is it for a car when it Runs Out of Gas?
It's always good to change a filter but running out of gas won't hurt your car. Keep the oil checked, that will hurt if you get to low on oil.....Have a great St. Patrick's Day %26amp; God blessHow bad is it for a car when it Runs Out of Gas?
It should be fine, it just puts more strain on your fuel pump.

I have a 93 Ford Escort 1.9L, and it keeps cutting out, how do i fix this?

It started a little over a month ago, it just started cutting out, i first ran some lucus fuel treatment in it thinking maybe my injectors were dirty, then i put new plugs and wires in it, still had the same problem, well, I then went to the timing and changed the timing belt, still, so i had o'riellys test the ignition module, they said it was good, so i replaced, the crank position sensor, the coil pack, and still have the same problem. I loosened the catalytic converter, and that didnt help, then i changed the O2 sensor and still no help, i have changed and fuel filter and tested my fuel pressure, fuel pressure is good, so i have no idea were to check next, I rented a scan tool from O'riellys, and that was the reason i changed to O2 sensor, but it didnt say anything else. I have no idea were to start next, can anybody help?I have a 93 Ford Escort 1.9L, and it keeps cutting out, how do i fix this?
Try adding a thing of dry gas or gasline antifreeze to the tank the next time you fill up.

I owned an early 90's escort that would sputter and stop and slow down anytime the weather was cool/cold or damp/wet. Piece of American made crap.

Anyway, adding a bottle of gasline antifreeze stopped the problems until I finally blew the damn thing up.

Good luckI have a 93 Ford Escort 1.9L, and it keeps cutting out, how do i fix this?
try changing out the idle air intake valve

    about 10 bucks

always start small then work your way up

if this is bad it will cause you car to just cut out at lights etc...I have a 93 Ford Escort 1.9L, and it keeps cutting out, how do i fix this?
check for bad ground wires around the battery area.they become corroded and damage . look for cracked air intake hose. remove idle speed control valve and look for carbon deposit build-up. if the inside shaft is shiney on one side,it is binding( replace it)I have a 93 Ford Escort 1.9L, and it keeps cutting out, how do i fix this?
Need a little more info. Has the idle control sensor been replaced on it? It sounds like you are going to have a new car by the time your done. Two other things that could be causing this are a bad camshaft or a clogged catalytic converter. It sounds like you've replaced about everything else on it.
